Poor performance of Dish wash powder

I am not at all satisfied with the purchase of dishwash powder as it serves no use. The greasy nature of oil in the pan remains same. There’s no formation of foam/leather, it isn’t near to traditional ash based dish powder which I my grandmother used to use. It’s a simple brown sand kind of paste with zero functionality .
